We need to be among the top 3 countries in AI research and innovation and make Bharat AtmaNirbhar in frontier technologies. This requires training world-class innovators and deepening R&D efforts.
Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to “nation-build,” I am returning to India after 44 years in the United States — having trained over 55 PhDs and postdocs, built multiple technology ventures, and founded globally recognized AI institutes — deeply inspired to help shape India’s sovereign AI mission.
Together with a world-class team of researchers, technologists, and entrepreneurs, we aim to position India as a global hub for responsible, frugal, and cutting-edge AI innovation — transforming it into a true product nation.
